Shout Out from Adam Dulin on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Hey It’s Adam on tour with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. We are currently in Nashville, Tennessee. I started touring September 12th of last year, 2007; and we go until March 23rd. We had a three-week break for the holidays and unfortunately, one of our cast mates decided at the very last minute not to return to the show. In fact, he didn’t get on the plane and didn’t call anyone until an hour before we all arrived here and in Nashville!
So it was a bit a last-minute decision and no one was warned about it. As soon as the plane landed, I turned my phone on (like most people do) and received a voice mail saying that since I was the swing, I had to actually start preparing to jump in the following day. We had 24 hours to get me ready to jump in.
The trickiest moment came because I actually have stuff that the Director already has me do onstage, and the director wanted me to try to actually do a little bit of my old track as well as this missing person’s track which had me doing some really quick, quick changes I was lucky to have a great dresser (and performer in the show): Joris from Belgium. Thanks Joris!
From here, we go to Chattanooga, Tennessee and then Hunstville, Alabama.
See ya later!

Sorry to get back to you so late!! One of the many aspects of touring is that you never know how life will be in each town. For the last week and a half we have had horrible luck with the internet at the hotels where we've stayed. We finally were able to get a connection after busing 10 hours from Chattanooga to Panama City FL where all internet and phone communication went down. That was a great disapointment. So I apologize to everyone for being out of the loop.
As for Tenn. we had a great time. We all handled all the changes to scenes, blocking, choreography and parts with smooth style. We are a family of sorts and work hard not to let each other down and are therefore very supportive of each other. When any understudy goes on for the first time one will witness a mass of hugs and words of comfort, reasurrance, and congrats both before and after the show.
There is a lot going into learning a show for understudies and swings alike because not only are you wanting to envelope your own normal character and track but you want to be able to live just as comfortably in your understudies as well. Unfortunately, that's impossible unless you've had the time in rehearsals to do that. There's nothing like the rush of going on for the first time, remembering to have fun, and seeing your accomplishments unfold as entertainment in your audience and collegues alike.
Please keep checking us out for more and I'll keep you posted on what's happening here!!
Always,
Adam

I would like to first apologize for responding until now. We've had the worst luck with the wireless internet at our hotels.
I'm currently on a layoff for a week visiting my sister, her husband and my beautiful nephew in Florida. And their internet works!!!!
How does that Joni Mitchell song go?
-"Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got
Till its gone..."
And I very much missed my internet connection. It's all a part of touring never knowing what lies ahead. Be it the hotel accomodations, the theatre (unless you've been there before), the access to food and food choices, and in this case...communication.
But Tenn. went rather well. With the flu season in full swing we managed to perform with all of our principals out at one time or another and in several combinations. Except for one of our female roles, Suzanne Sole. She's amazing, described as a brick wall because nothings been able to bring her down.
But it all has gone very smoothly. We are lucky to have such a flexible and supportive cast and crew.
As for travel we have been quite lucky and have flown everywhere since we started until last week where we started to bus. Most non-equity tours bus and truck daily or every few days if they have a split week. We had a couple of 5:30am bus calls and traveled 8-10 hours to our next destination. Everyone pretty much sleeps most of the time. Either in their seat, or across seats or on the floor; whatever it takes to get rest.
Life on the road is different for everybody. Some love it. Some don't. And there are many aspects that form these opinions. I love it because I enjoy travel. Observing and taking part (as much as possible) in the different cities and towns that we travel to is a great deal of fun. The subtle changes in food, entertainment, community, accents, and landscape I find absolutely fascinating.
I do a lot of exploring in each city when I can. Usually the day after we arrive.
Thank you so much for your comments. Please do look out for us when we are in your area. We appreciate our audiences and look forward to hearing from you!!
Always,
Adam
